21st century music for the most part has been a giant rolling ball of bland poo. The ball has been rolling down the hill for quite some time, picking up I IV and V chords, Hannah Montana Records, and lyrics that inspire the death of inspiration.

Why join the giant rolling ball of bland poo? Its very easy to get in... you just stand there.

It is time to break away from the norm. Protest (if you will) the lack of thought and intuition apparent in music today.

  1. How can you seriously generalize like that and claim that all of today's music is bland poo. Some of it can be entertaining. Not necessarily thought-provoking anymore, but some music has literary appeal. Take, for instance, the Biblical and literary allusions in Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" album (or simply the song). Not all of today's music is dried up poo. And with all the problems in today's society, music's appeal to protest has the potential to skyrocket. Now, a majority of pop music is rather poo-ish, I'll agree...from Taylor Swift to Kanye West to Beyonce herself, music only strives to emphasize sex or the ideal relationship. The topics ought to vary, but there is hope for it, I'm sure.

  2. Yeah that first post wasn't very well thought out. Looking back I don't really agree with what I said. There is plenty of popular music that gets stuck in my head (and I choose to let it live there). I came off a little elitist with that comment, but I can choose to not listen to certain music and not tell everybody that I'm not listening to it (if that makes sense) so thank you for the brisk recognition of my slurred comment and I will not use my blog to whine, over-analyze, or whine.
